Well, North Gate has been under new ownership for several months now. We serve food now (with an excellent menu). The place is brighter and attracts a completely different crowd than in years past. Karaoke on Thursdays and live music 2-3 nights/week--as well as very cheap drinks makes for a good spot. Plus, we have an amazing patio which is used for happy hour drinking, live music, and fun in the sun once the weather gets nice. Crawfish boils coming soon.

I went to northgate Thursday night, bought a few beers and had fun. My tab was 35 dollars I tipped 8, bringing my total bill to 43.and some change. I used my card and got receipt email confirming the charges, but when they posted they charged me 53 dollars and some change, in my opinion that's theft. I wish I could give they a negative rating but I can't, I will never go there again. Thieves!

Ive been to Northgate Tavern seversl time and when a big show is put on and the space is utilised well, this venue is mindblowing. The drinks are affordable and they have renovated the interior in the past couple of years. Id definitely recommend going out to northgate during the weekend.

North Gate was the best place about 2 years ago. Evey Saturday night, or Friday (can't remember!) it boasted no cover, a great DJ and the sweatiest time of your life. It was great. It recently closed, then reopened to new management. I was hopeful that they would do something about the woman's bathroom...it is a disgrace even before all the drink people get to it....just nasty. I gave it a chance, while the entertainment is picking up the interior, especially the bathroom is a giant thumbs down. "I will take a wet-nap with my drink please!" So if you don't sticky floors, dark corners, okay crowds, and not flushing the toilets, this place is for you. I'm still game some nights...Whiskey Wednesdays anyone?

I highly commend North Gate's new management!! A few months ago, if you walked into North Gate you would immediately develop lung cancer from the huge cloud of smoke lingering around, hepatitis C from the lack of cleanliness in the place, and not to mention the place was always dead. Now, smoking is only allowed on the patio (which has been revamped to even have an outside bar), the place actually looks clean, and it's actually filled with live human beings! No more floating hay bales. Both of the bathrooms have even been remodeled. They finally got new floors and repainted the whole interior of the bar. I personally just met the new owner not too long ago and she's awesome. She actually gives a rat's ass about the place. I have high hopes for North Gate considering that it has always had great potential given the location, but just poor management in the past. They seem to have their shit together and care about giving LSU high quality service. Awesome bands, awesome weekly events, awesome drink specials, and awesome people!
